Cherry Nut Slices

Ingredients

1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons milk
1 cup (8 ounces) candied cherries
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped Brazil nuts or filberts

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  • Sift flour with salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  • Cream butter. Add brown sugar, vanilla and milk; cream well.
  • Add dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
  • Stir in cherries and nuts.
  • Divide dough in half.
  • Shape into roll, 12 inches long; wrap in wax paper; chill 4-6 hours or overnight.
  • Cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F 10-12 minutes until golden.

Makes approximately 6 1/2 dozen cookies.
