Egg Pastry
This pastry makes a flaky golden brown topping for a homemade pot pie.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
4-5 tablespoons milk
Directions:
- Put flour and salt into bowl
- Cut butter into flour until mixture resembles fine crumbs
- Add egg and milk, mixing with a fork until dough holds together in a ball
- Chill dough
- Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness
- Brush with egg after you put on top of stew
- Bake at 350°F for 60 minutes or at 425°F for 25 minutes or until browned
