Metamora, Indiana is a historic village located on US highway 52 about one hour northwest of Cincinnati and an hour and a half southeast of Indianapolis. The land was acquired from indians in 1809. The Whitewater Canal and Whiteater Valley Railroad run through the middle of the village. The village is currently a haven for arts and crafts, plus antiques. Over 100 shops, inns and restaurants are located along the historic canal. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources created a state historic site at the old canal and operates a water-powered grain mill where flour and corn meal are for sale. |
