Troy is a fast-growing community, mostly due to its proximity to Dayton, Ohio. It owes most of its renown due to the annual Strawberry Festival; however, it has a small-town charm that was, to us, a pleasant surprise. We learned about Troy during a consulting engagement during the latter half of 2003. We found several unique restaurants. Our favorite is El Sombrero, a can't-miss aqua and purple establishment on County Road 25A. The service is typically good and the owner is frequently on hand to make sure your experience is great. On your first visit, try a Burrito El Grande, offered with several meat filling choices. Next is K's Restaurant, a local landmark due to its longevity. Typical diner food - the traditional way to order a burger is from the "front grill", a grease-lover's paradise. K's does a nice job with their hand-dipped milkshakes. B-K Root Beer is an inexpensive place to find a hot dog, onion rings, and (of course) a frosted mug of root beer. La Piazza offers an ever-changing lunch buffet or a well-rounded menu of Italian cuisine. Directly on the town square, this establishment is a great place for business or pleasure. Regardless of where you eat, stop afterwards at the Bakehouse for freshly baked treats and rustic breads. The bread selection varies daily. |
